FELT SEAL

Felt strips are simple, efficient seals that can accommodate up to 0.5 degrees of misalignment and can accommodate peripheral speeds up to 4 m/s. If the bearings are to be installed on a stepped shaft with a cylindrical seat loose felt strips can be used. Felt strips should be cut to the required length and soaked in hot oil for a few minutes . Then, they can be installed directly into the seal groove.
