The Challenge

Our customer is responsible for the maintenance of a number of machines for the rail industry.

The most recent project required upgrading 2x Road Rail Excavator cranes to meet RIS-1530-PLT issue 2, fitted with Prolec RCI systems which facilitate the use of counterweight ballast when Fambo piling rigs are attached.

The cranes are recognised as the industry’s highest lifting capability road rail machine.

Replacing bearings isn’t cheap. But the actual cost of repair is a drop in the ocean. What really hurts is the downtime from repair causing delays and ultimately lost revenue.

The Solution

A maintenance free bearing which could accommodate heavy loads for a slow static oscillatory application.

HAWC bearings HA range dry running self-lubricating bushes eliminates the use of oil or grease by using solid graphite pegs embedded into the bearing surface which will lubricate the bearing for life. The bearings have been developed for high loads/slow speed applications or intermittent use. Suitable for rotation or linear movement.
